Everyone has had an embarrassing moment or two that they would rather forget. But what about those moments you cannot forget? Why not retell the scenario and laugh away the embarrassment?
One night on Jay Leno’s live TV show, a woman retold her tale to a large TV audience when Jay sought out the worst first date story.
This lady told how, after skiing all day, she and her date headed out for the 100 mile ride home from the Salt Lake City, Utah, ski slopes. Driving along, she realized she needed to relieve herself of that last one-too-many chalet latte. They were in the middle of nowhere – the closest restroom was one hour away! Heavy snow caused slow driving and she was not able to hold on. Rather than wet the front seat of the car she asked her date to stop and let her out of the car.
She crawled out, pulled down her ski pants and rested her bare butt on the fender of the car for balance. Her companion got out to watch for traffic and gallantly resisted the temptation to peek.
Feeling much relieved, the young woman bent down to pull up her pants and to her horror discovered that her butt was frozen to the car fender. Sensing she was taking a long time, her date asked why. She quickly replied: “I’m freezing my butt off” and needed help. She had covered herself with her sweater and imploringly met his curious eyes when he approached her side of the car.
Discussing the situation, they quickly agreed that something hot was required to free her cheeks from the icy metal.
Both realized that there was only one solution. With his date looking the other way, our hero unzipped his pants and aimed for her butt on the fender. It worked! And that’s not the end of the story. To the audience’s delight, they learned that the couple eventually married and the husband was sitting there in the seat beside her.
Jay Leno commented: “This gives a whole new meaning to being pissed off.”
Rather than keeping this embarrassing adventure a secret, this woman gave many the opportunity to laugh heartily. So from this misadventure we can learn that to laugh with others at oneself is relaxing and freeing and can even create a happy ever-after ending.
Namaste,
Kathryn
